What is happening now

The contractor is now removing the thick concrete basement slab to the St Clements Building and the concrete retaining walls along Houghton Street and St Clements Lane. Because of these works you may experience greater levels of vibration and noise transfer through the ground and building structures into your office space up until late November 2016.  This is normal and is not a risk to you or your office and all the buildings surrounding the site are constantly monitored to ensure no abnormal movement occurs.

At the end of October the contractor will begin demolishing Clement Inn Passage, which includes removal of a Victorian sewer. Once complete the excavated area will be filled with crushed fill material in preparation for the main contractor to commence with piling in early January 2017.
Cantillon will continue to observe the agreed noisy working times:
Monday to Friday: 7:30-10am, 12-2pm and 4:30-6pm Saturday: 9am-1pm.

What happens next

Main contractor starts on site - January 2017
Following completion of the demolition works the Centre Buildings site will be handed over to the main contractor, Mace, who will starting piling works in early January. A further newsletter will be issued later this year introducing Mace and outlining their forthcoming works. Town hall meetings with the contractor will take place in January 2017, which will be an opportunity for staff to learn more about the scheme and raise any questions they may have.
